About This Course
There have been myriad changes to the new Subchapter V of the bankruptcy code with major impact on small business reorganization. This CLE course will explain these changes and discuss the origin and particulars of the new and its relationship to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
The goal of the new act, though in actuality a subchapter of the bankruptcy code, specifically chapter 11, is to make it cheaper and easier for small businesses to reorganize. Given that in this district, 90% of chapter 11 filings are incapable of reorganizing which then deems them chapter 7 cases or dismissed on the “no asset” grounds, the act is meant to simplify the process to keep more small businesses afloat.
