Matthew Lehrer, Esq.
A co-founder of Gitter & Lehrer PLLC, Matthew B. Lehrer offers highly skilled representation to his clients throughout the New York City metropolitan area. He focuses his practice exclusively on complex real estate transactions.
Mr. Lehrer graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in economics and political science from Indiana University Bloomington in 2004. He then pursued his legal education at St. John's University School of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 2007. While he was in law school, Mr. Lehrer completed several law clerkships, including one with the New York State Attorney General's Office and another with a Nassau County Supreme Court judge.
Following law school, Mr. Lehrer worked as an associate general counsel and a managing director in a real estate brokerage firm. While he was there, he gained invaluable experience with business, commercial and real estate transactions as well as with insurance law. He represents both sellers and buyers of upscale mixed-use, commercial and residential real estate. He has broad experience in representing both landlords and tenants in negotiating and drafting commercial leases. Mr. Lehrer also represents property owners and developers by reviewing, negotiating and drafting multimillion-dollar construction contracts.
Mr. Lehrer is admitted to practice before all of the state courts of New York. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Highly regarded by his fellow professionals, Mr. Lehrer has received an "Excellent" peer review rating through Avvo. He is an active participant in several professional organizations, including the New York State Bar Association, the New York County Lawyers' Association and the American Bar Association.
