This CLE course explores the ethical challenges that attorneys may face when providing legal services on a pro bono basis. The course also highlights variations from the Model Rules specific to Michigan and other states.

Topics covered include ensuring attorney competence, especially when handling cases outside of an attorney's usual practice areas, and addressing issues of confidentiality and conflicts of interest in pro bono representation. The course will also delve into client competency, advocacy challenges, and the ethical considerations involved in withdrawing from representation.
