About This Course
Employment law is an important area of the legal system even for non-employment lawyers. This comprehensive CLE course will address the uniquely challenging issue of employee vs. independent contractor and the implications of how workers are classified.
The course will summarize the various federal laws, including Title VII, The Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act and the new Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, which govern the employment relationship.
Providing an overview of the administrative process required by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in advance of filing lawsuits for most employment claims, the course will also explain the current trends in employment law including the Supreme Court’s decision on Affirmative Action on employer DEI initiatives.
