Michael L. Shanahan, Esq.
Michael L. Shanahan joined the firm in November 2014. As an associate attorney, Michael handles all types of medical malpractice, nursing home, products liability, personal injury and wrongful death cases. Prior to joining the firm, Michael worked for a general liability and workers’ compensation firm in Chicago.
According to Michael, “The most rewarding aspect of being at Levin & Perconti is the opportunity to work alongside some of the best attorneys and leaders in the Chicago legal community to protect and vindicate the rights of people who are seriously injured by the negligence of others.” Michael chose a career path in personal injury and medical malpractice litigation because it offers him a high degree of client interaction. “I enjoy getting to know my clients and value my relationships with them. I know that most of my clients have never been involved in a lawsuit so I do my best to maintain frequent communication to ensure they understand and are comfortable with the legal process. It’s these relationships that motivate me to achieve the best results for my clients in every case I handle.”
As an associate, Michael plays a key role in a number of complex medical malpractice, nursing home, wrongful death and personal injury matters. Michael is involved in all steps of the litigation process, including case intake, drafting and filing complaints, depositions, and trial. Currently, Michael is working on a variety of cases, including a birth injury/medical malpractice case, a construction negligence case, wrongful death in a trucking negligence case, a product products liability case, and many nursing home negligence cases.
Michael graduated from the DePaul University College of Law in May 2013 and was admitted to the Illinois Bar in November 2013. As a law student, Michael received the CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in Trial Advocacy and Legal Drafting and was a Dean’s Merit Scholarship Recipient. He also clerked for a litigation firm in Chicago where he assisted attorneys in a variety of areas including construction, trucking, premise liability, and personal injury litigation.
Michael earned undergraduate degrees in Economics and Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2009. Prior to law school, he spent a year working as an elementary teacher in an underprivileged school in San Diego, CA through the Augustinian Volunteers program.
