Jonathan M. West, Esq.
Jon is an attorney with Hennessy & Roach in Brentwood, Tennessee. Jon on is long recognized as one of the top workers’ compensation defense attorneys in the State of Tennessee and is skilled at developing substantial relationships resulting in successful outcomes for clients in multiple jurisdictions. He has substantial trial and litigation experience in many jurisdictional courts of record across the State of Tennessee as well as before the Tennessee Department of Labor. Jon is known statewide as a “no-nonsense” attorney and aggressive litigator amongst the Tennessee workers’ compensation bar. He is meticulously organized and detail oriented and possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Jon earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Nashville School of Law in 2006 and soon thereafter joined the law firm of Lewis, Thomason, King, Krieg & Waldrop as a workers’ compensation defense attorney. During his time at Lewis Thomason, Jon served as lead trial counsel and successfully defended local, regional, and national employers, insurance companies, and third-party administrators in various state courts and before the Tennessee Department of Labor. Jon routinely achieves successful results through directed verdicts, summary judgment, mediation, and arbitration.
In addition to his practice, Jon routinely co-authors treatises and presents training seminars concerning new developments in Tennessee Workers’ Compensation law to employers, attorneys, insurance carriers and third-party administrators. His most recent work includes co-authoring “Overview of Workers’ Compensation Law in Tennessee” and “An Employer’s Guide to Tennessee Workers’ Compensation.” Jon is a frequent speaker and CLE presenter on the topic of Tennessee Workers Compensation and a regular presenter of seminars regarding workers’ compensation defense to local, regional and national claims professionals and employers.
Prior to attending law school, Jon earned a Master of Science in Health & Human Performance and a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from Austin Peay State University. Before Jon became a dedicated attorney, he worked 10 years in the public sector administering recreational and athletic programs at the local, regional and state levels.
Jon is a member of the Nashville Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in all state courts of Tennessee as well as the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee.
