Deborah Gonzalez, Esq.
“Strategic, focused, creative” are three words used to describe Deborah Gonzalez’s approach to the effective protection and enhancement of assets for her clients.
Her work in the legal field covers media, technology and entertainment through her legal firm D Gonzalez Law, LLC. She obtained her JD from New York Law School and is licensed to practice in both New York and Georgia. Clients include museums, galleries, artists and art professionals, animators, filmmakers, producers, musicians and music professionals, authors, and various other creative professionals.
Deborah was a past-President of the Georgia Music Industry Association and a former board member of Women in Film & Television Atlanta. She is also a member of the Georgia Production Partnership, Athens Area Arts Council, and the Entertainment & Sports Law section of the State Bar of Georgia.
In 2017, Deborah added “state representative” to her credits and served on the Judiciary Non-Civil House Committee where she used her legal expertise and made a name for herself as a skillful questioner, astute and knowledgeable on the bills being proposed and reviewed. Her interactions on the committee during meetings and hearings earned her the reputation of someone not to be taken lightly and even as a threat and the nickname of “The Cross Examiner.” Gonzalez’s reputation as a no-nonsense, people-first legislator led to her being appointed co-chair of the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislator’s Taskforce on Criminal Justice and the Law (2018-2019).
Today she combines both her legal work in technology and entertainment with her work in criminal justice giving her a unique perspective as to how these two areas intersect for her clients.
Her charitable work includes the Georgia Lawyers for the Arts, Art is King, and various creative non-profits. She is a much-sought out speaker on legal issues and concerns for creatives of all genres in the US and around the world.
