John Valkovci, JD, CEH, ACE, CCFE, CME
John Valkovci is an assistant professor of Cybersecurity at Saint Francis University and previously served as the University’s Cyber Defense and Forensics Coordinator. He developed the school’s Cybersecurity curriculum and teaches a number of Cybersecurity courses, including Drone Hacking and Forensics, Dark Web Analysis, Complex Online Investigations, OSINT, and Cryptocurrency Analysis. His work earned Saint Francis recognition from the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security as a designated Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education.
He received his B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and his J.D. from the University of Richmond. While in law school, he accepted a commission and served in the United States Navy's JAG Corps. After the Navy, he became an assistant United States attorney in the Western District of Pennsylvania, where he served as Chief of the Johnstown Division Office and prosecuted numerous cyber-related cases involving child exploitation, fraud, and narcotics, until he retired in 2018. In addition to teaching, John also serves as the Senior Vice President of Learning and Development for Asset Reality, a company focused on physical and digital asset seizure and management. In that capacity, he has developed and delivered a number of training courses in digital asset seizure and recovery, including several multi-day training sessions for agents and analysts of the Drug Enforcement Administration on Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Analysis.
He also has provided similar training for law enforcement officers, judges, and prosecutors in Ukraine, Kosovo, Turkey, Kenya, the British Virgin Islands, and other locations. He is recognized by the Counsil of Europe as an expert in virtual asset and virtual asset service providers, and was a member of a Parliamentary Working Group in Kosovo assisting the legislature in the drafting of a regulatory framework for virtual assets and virtual asset service providers. He has served as the Director of Training for the Center for International Cyber Intelligence (CI2), and was a member of their board of directors.
He holds certifications as an AccessData Certified Examiner (ACE), a Certified Mobile Forensics Examiner (CMFE), a CipherTrace Certified Examiner (CTCE), and a Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH).
