About This Course
This CLE course, a continuation of CA Agency Law which reviewed federal, state and NCAA regulations as they apply to sports agents, will present the various definitions, disclosures, representations of pro athletes, contract requirements, changes to Name, Image & Likeness, protection of athletes and universities and penalties, both civil and criminal, for bad acts.
The course will also introduce NFL agency requirements – contracts between players and teams and between athletes and agents, which will receive more in-depth treatment. The course will also delve into stories about ties to organized crime, self-dealing, asset hiding and illicit payments that come with competitive industries such as sports. The course will relay some of the more notorious incidents as well as how to use them to illustrate to clients the penalties they may incur for crossing ethical and fiduciary lines in the quest for big commissions.
