Joseph T. Corradino, Esq.
Joseph T. Corradino is the State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Fairfield, which covers six towns and cities in eastern Fairfield County, Connecticut including the City of Bridgeport. He was appointed by the Connecticut Criminal Justice Commission effective May 1, 2020, and as such serves as the chief law enforcement officer of the judicial district. Mr. Corradino joined the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice in 1990 and since 1992 has been serving the greater Bridgeport area, where he has prosecuted several significant murder cases including those of Russell Peeler, Christopher DiMeo, Jermain Richards, Kyle Navin, and Oscar Hernandez.
He was admitted to the bar in 1988 and was an associate with a Hartford law firm. He earned his juris doctor from the Catholic University of America in 1988 and a bachelor of arts in history from Providence College in 1985. He served in the Connecticut Army National Guard from 2002 to 2019, including tours as command judge advocate for the 85th Troop Command and the 143rd Regional Support Group, retiring with the rank of major. His teaching experience includes serving as a lecturer in the Criminal Justice Program at Housatonic Community College since 2002, an adjunct instructor at Quinnipiac University Law School from 1994 to 2006, and instructor at the Bridgeport Police Academy, and various continuing education presentations for the Fairfield County Detective Association, the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association, the Connecticut Bar Association, Bridgeport Police Department, the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice, and grand rounds at Connecticut Valley Hospital. Mr. Corradino has been involved in numerous civic activities, including serving as co-chair of the New Haven Charter Revision Commission in 2002, Secretary (2007) and chairman (2008-2013) of the Connecticut Board of Firearms Permit Examiners, and member of the Connecticut Governmental Accountability Commission (2011-2012).
Mr. Corradino has served as an election official, justice of the peace, and in numerous leadership roles in Greater New Haven parochial grammar schools and high schools, and a local Boy Scout Troop. In 2019, he was presented with the Columbus Leadership Award by the Council of Italian-American Societies of Greater Bridgeport. His military awards include the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Meritorious Service Medal, and the Connecticut Medal of Merit. He is also certified Police Instructor for the Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Council.
