This CLE course offers an in-depth exploration of Florida’s legal mechanisms designed to intervene in crises involving substance use and mental health disorders. Attendees will master the application of the Marchman Act, Baker Act, and Guardianship statutes, which collectively enable the involuntary commitment of individuals posing an immediate risk to themselves.
The program will detail how these statutes can be utilized individually or together to secure sufficient time for individuals to achieve meaningful recovery.
